The minor cold has turned into a raging sinus infection. (Pretty sure it's viral, not bacterial, so it's not like a doctor can help much here. I've had a lot of acetaminophen in the last few days.) It's really not surprising, given my week.

It hasn't been a bad week - just a week with too many things in it, in the horrifyingly bad weather.

- Saturday we went to see Mean Girls the musical (my birthday present from Chuckro). Really fun, by the way - the songs are sufficiently clever that it's not just a retread of the movie, and the two women playing Cady and Regina are amazing singers.

- Sun we went out to Farmingdale.

- Mon-Wed was our company sales summit, up at Mohonk Mountain House. My department was organizing. It went really, really well, and was a lot of fun, but it was incredibly stressful and high stakes and we were booked solid from 8am until midnight for two days and then 8am to when we left early because of the second incoming snow storm on the third. (It snowed a foot on Tuesday. We left by 2:30 on Wed to avoid hitting the storm at rush hour. It was apparently -6 deg up there on Thurs, so I'm glad Wed was our last scheduled day.)

- Thurs I felt like total crap. But I had a webinar involving two partners with 200 registrants, and I had a colleague in from Israel that I desperately needed to spend the whole day with, and I had the North American sales team giving their quarter updates (yes, this is more things than I had hours) and not going in just wasn't an option. Thank goodness Chuckro and Mithrigil made the cupcakes for ARR's class because I just couldn't.

- Fri I managed to get in for ARR's school celebration, which didn't go great. (I think he's got a less virulent version of what I've got, but he refuses to admit any symptoms that can be easily medicated. I don't want to force Tylenol on him when he doesn't have a fever and claims not to be in pain, but is just super sniffly and touchy.) Got through some work, and then went to bed for the entire afternoon.

- Today we had ARR's birthday party. Also didn't go great. Parts were great. It was a dinosaur theme. Chuckro found these eggs with dino puzzles in them that were a smash hit. Some of the games went over well. One game never happened at all. Several meltdowns were had, including one over the fact that everyone wanted to be on ARR's team. (ARR was the one crying over this. No, I don't understand either.) The cake was awesome, and everyone agreed it was awesome. The pinata turned out to be a bad idea. (Everyone got tons of candy and plastic dinos, but apparently not everyone thought they'd gotten enough candy and plastic dinos.) At the stated end of the party, at least three kids were wailing, including ARR. (I even got a "This is the worst party EVER!" Later, he admitted that he did in fact like the party.)

ARR's just been...super touchy all week. The littlest things set him off, in completely baffling ways. We've tried reasoning, we've tried time outs, we've tried comforting, we've tried ignoring, we've tried joking, we've tried threatening, none of it has really any noticeable effect whatsoever. He's mostly not trying to get anything out of the crying - it's not like he's begging or anything. He's just got absolutely no resilience at the moment, for things that he normally shrugs off. (On the other hand, we expected the fact that the supermarket didn't have the dino nuggets he'd requested for his party to be a disaster, and he just shrugged and said he liked regular chicken nuggets better anyway.) Which is why I suspect he's feeling sicker than he admits. But we're just all worn thin at this point. The afternoon turned into too-much-screentime, but there just wasn't enough energy on anyone's part to do more than that.
