2014 Book Review #90: Curtsies and Conspiracies

Title: Curtsies and Conspiracies
Author: Gail Carriger
Genre: YA comic steampunk (book 2 of 3)
Thingummies: 4.5

Synopsis: Aboard a dirigible finishing school that teaches young ladies social graces and assassination techniques, Sophronia must foil a kidnapping plot, get a friend into evil genius school, and fend off the attentions of an arrogant (yet attractive?) heir to a duke.

Thingummies: I continue to adore Carriger's steampunk comedies of deadly manners. Once again, we have ridiculously complex plots, even more ridiculously complex hats, and rhapsodic food porn. Plus, a nice little love triangle that I honestly can't quite decide how I want to come out. Is it Carriger's best? Maybe not. But it's a refreshing puff of whimsy, full of humor and sparkling wit.

I like these substantially more than her main Xless series.

Really? I loved those, too.

Me too. :) Wish she would finish this series instead of starting the new one about Prudence.
