Working on first draft of DARPA proposal due tomorrow; last night engaged bemusedly in the ceremonial Exchanging of the Bras at a new year's party in my apartment complex (it's happened to me twice already, so I suspect it's some sort of Phoenician female-bonding ritual).
It involves someone insisting that I would look good in her bra, dragging me to the nearest bathroom/bedroom, switching the undergarment of interest with mine, and presenting me to all in attendance for approval.
A lot of people out here are very focused on appearance. Occasionally my neighbors view me as a fun makeover project--I used to find it unsettling, but I'm more open to it now, because I think they have good intentions and they seem to be good people at heart.
