I've been having trouble with a lot of static in the office. A few minutes ago, I sat down and an arc leapt from my thumb to my laptop. Zzap! And it went dead and wouldn't turn back on! AAAAHHH!

It finally flipped back on when I removed the battery and put it back. But I almost had a heart attack.

Dude, I send static electricity all over the place around here. That's actually a constant worry for us is shocking the machines into nothing.

I've been kind of worrying about it for months now - I keep actually hurting my hand on the metal doorframe. Something about this carpet is super-static-y. I'm tempted to just sew myself a suit of dryer sheets.

What would happen if you bought a can of Static Guard and sprayed it all over the carpet?

Dunno. Static Guard never lasts more than a few hours, though.

Well, it seems at least worth trying. Either that, or get a metal paperweight you can ground yourself on before touching your computer.
