Oh industry conventions. You're like watching people set money on fire.

There's a freaking pond on the trade show floor with freaking iPads sticking out of it. (Mounted above the water.)

But a lot of people are bitching the swag isn't all that great this year. Fox is currently winning with backpacks, but AMC did have some nice craft beers in logo'd mugs.

What industry is this? It sounds like TV, but Kimberly doesn't know of any TV trade show in Boston.

It's TV--the Cable Show/NCTA. It doesn't quite know whether it wants to focus on content or tech or advertising, but I can see why it might not be on her radar.

Well, there's a lot of iPad business card raffles. And there's some nifty stuff if you stand in line or ask for it--I've got a nice new lunch bag and a bunch of my coworkers picked up autographed books from Rachel Maddow and Chris Mathews. But apparently the conference totes used to come stuffed with swag and they don't anymore. You have to work for your free trinkets.

By the way--Showtime had a photo booth that let you get pictures of yourself in the Dexter promo. I thought of you--I need to retrieve the photo from my work email, but I'll send it to you.

...given the amount of stuff you lugged up, are you going to be able to get all of the swag back down?

I wonder how many of the raffles for things like iPads ever actually give out a prize.
