First day

I'm cautiously optimistic about new job. I think the first day went pretty well, if a rather bad case of drinking from the firehose.

Two important changes, though:
1) Posting to any blogs or social media sites on company time or equipment is flat out forbidden. So I'm expecting my posts to drop off dramatically.
2) I've lost about 15 minutes of reading time each way on the commute (slightly shorter total, but I've also replaced one leg with a walk). So the reading pace will also probably drop some.

So, yeah, stuff. We'll see how it goes, but I'm hopeful.

Good luck! Regarding the no-posting situation, one potential workaround is to compose posts as emails to yourself and then just post them when you get home. Obviously it's not as good as reading & commenting throughout the day, but it's something. I used variants of that strategy off and on during my last office job (including writing a lot of my wedding thank-you notes as emails to myself and then copying them by hand later). That job sucked.
