Settling in

We've acquired two roommates and a cat for the duration. Everyone's got flashlights (at least, everyone with thumbs) and a couple gallons of water each, and we've moved the furniture away from the windows and put towels down under the ones most likely to leak. I guess around dawn we'll find out how bad the overhype was. G'night!

Well, we did lose power for about thirty seconds, there.

Were you awake when it happened? All I knew was the power went out while I was asleep and I had to reset the clocks in the morning.

Yeah, it was about 1:30. I had trouble falling asleep because I was worried--it was fierce when I walked home last night. Soaked down to my underwear in half a block. The lights in the school went out and that woke me up, and I thought ah, well, there it is then. And then the power came back on less than a minute later.

I have noticed my bedroom window is leaking, but this is more a continuation of the dripping on my air conditioner problem--water from the balcony above has rusted through enough that it runs right down the wall onto me. I'm giving this a pass for being a hurricane, but if the water runs in the top of my window in the next rainstorm, I'm calling my landlords.
