Some you win, some you lose
It's been an increasingly frustrating and stressful few weeks, for a variety of reasons. Some are big things, some are just minor stuff, but the minor stuff just adds to the stress. Chuckro's retaking the CFA exam tomorrow, for starters. And then there's the mortgage thing, which is just becoming increasingly complicated and unpleasant. (Our mortgage people are objecting to a whole bunch of things about the way the landlords set up the deal. We're caught in the middle.) There's the insulating curtains that we need to keep from freezing with our single pane windows, that have had to be returned and reordered and now seem to have disappeared in the mail. I've got my first performance review next week. I can't get photographers to call me back. And a bunch of other little odds and ends. And it just keeps piling up, and now matter how hard we try, we can't seem to get rid of anything. I feel like I'm worried all the time.
On the other hand, at least I've got a nice little social life going. My writing group actually liked my last story, mostly because it was significantly better than the previous three. And I got through the first game of the first rpg campaign I've ever tried to run without disaster. People seemed to like it. (It's a Jules Verne/Lovecraft/Wells steampunk kind of thing set in 1887.) I set them on fire, nearly froze them to death, and got them bitten by ghost dogs, and they seem willing to come back next week.
All right. So social life - check. Everything else - less check.
