My creation! It's alive!

By which I mean, my baking experiment was tasty.

I made pumpkin pies last night - one for Thanksgiving (which went in the freezer), and one for dinner tonight (you lucky role-players, you). This, incidentally, was from the pumpkins that I got for Halloween (as I do my best Martha Stewart impression). And I ended up with crust and pumpkin left over.

So I tried an experiment. Someone had given us a little tiny spring-pan for an engagement gift (just the size for a cheesecake for two). I formed the crust in that. Then I whipped up a bizarre cross between a pumpkin pie and chocolate chip cookies - pumpkin, egg, flour, sugar, cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, molasses, and chocolate chips - and poured that in the pie crust.

It was interesting. Sort of a pie-cookie-cake. I'm not sure whether I would bother again, but it made an excellent use for the leftover pumpkin and crust.
