So, around 2am, I woke up. I then proceeded to wake up every few minutes for about two hours, without quite achieving full consciousness, I think. Because what kept waking me up was that as soon as I dropped back into sleep, I was a sheet of paper. This wouldn't have been a problem except that I was the wrong size, you see, and worse than that, I had the wrong font on me. Naturally, this is far to distressing to expect someone to sleep through. So I'd wake up. But clearly not all the way awake, because my reaction was not "oh, that's a weird dream", but absolute despair at not being able to sleep, and why is it these things happen to me, why must I be the one who's the wrong size paper?

Now that I'm all the way awake...WTF, brain? I mean, really? Does this make some kind of sense to you in your shadowy recesses? 'Cause conscious me is just plain confused. How do you even come up with this stuff?

Now this is the sort of quasi-waking nightmare I'm quite familiar with when stress presses down on me. Usually I'm some sort of free boundary that's quite impossibly discontinuous, or something.

Were you A4????

I think I was 11x17--apparently the problem was that I was significantly wider than I was tall, and this was terribly distressing.

I feel like that makes a lot more sense for you than me.

Not appreciably. I'm not in the habit of thinking of myself as an n-1 dimensional surface any more than most people

...wow, okay, yeah, I would've been terribly distressed by that. The wrong size AND font?! AUGH. No one can sleep through that!

Apparently, your dreams are particular about serifs.

I had the same sleep issue last night. I just never really slept, though I wasn't really awake. Balls to that.

Somehow, I thought you'd be the one to be most sympathetic. :)

I'm going to have nightmares about being printed in comic sans now, you know.

I vote that for your next dream, instead of doing something incorrectly/accidentally/insufficiently or being the wrong kind, you do something exceptionally well or are an object of incredible value. Like each time you fall asleep, you're a different Faberge egg.

(Dreams work by democratic consensus, right?)

Whoa...while writing this, I got a call from what the caller ID said was "Paper." Was dream-jethrien trying to reach me? :)
