Surprisingly practical

I bought an entirely frivolous leather coat in Florence. Nearly knee length, with a double zipper (that I'll probably break at some point), black with cream accents at wrist and neck (which will doubtlessly get discolored), and a belt with no loops (I did get two extra belts for when I lose one). Wildly impractical, that's ok because it's utterly fabulous. I've always wanted a long black leather coat, and this one makes me look fantastic.

Turns out it's not actually as impractical as I thought. It's the first leather coat I've worn, so I was rather surprised at how little they were kidding about the breathability. This time of year, it's always hard to dress because it's chilly outside in the mornings but the subway platforms are still hellishly hot. But I don't have to take my leather coat off when I get down to the platform, because it's so comfortable that I don't sweat. This is unbelievably huge for me. I love love love my coat.

Also, the leather's so soft, I keep petting my own arm. People around me must think I'm daft.
