Yay! Another bandwagon!

So [livejournal.com profile] edgehopper's started the "Your stats in D&D terms" trend. Well, I posted my d20 stats as a reply to his post, but I really do prefer the World of Darkness system. System works as follows - you get one dot (point) in each category automatically ('cause otherwise, you're pretty much dead). Then you get 7, 5, and 3 points, which you assign to each category (mental, social, physical). Since you're allowed to go back later in character creation and use freebie points to add to these and other stats, you can add an extra point or two if you think it's really justified. (So a 1 is a sickly weakling/moron/incredibly ugly person, a 5 is an Olympian/Nobel laureate/Hollywood superstar.)

Physical
Strength 2
Dexterity 3
Stamina 1 (see explanation for the incredibly low constitution in response to edgehopper)

Social
Charisma 3
Manipulation 2
Appearance 4 (added a point here, at Chuck's insistence. He's biased, but it's not like I'm that objective here, either.)

Mental
Perception 3
Intelligence 4
Wits 3

Definitely a mage. Probably Order of Hermes.

That's ok, dear. Let sleeping geeks lie.

What's the organization in the World of Darkness consisting of people who read your mail and brainwash you? I think I'd be a prime candidate for that organization ;-)

Oh, dear. You'd be in the Technocracy, I think. The evil technologically-based overlords who control science, world government, and the media, and are trying to stamp out all non-scientific and controlled magic.

Specifically, he's describing the New World Order. That is, the Men in Black.

I'm not sure I'd list you as a Hermetic, though I know you're a fan of tradition and ritual. I think a case could be made for Sons of Ether, too. Depends on your feelings of magic ritual versus scientific ritual.

Formal, traditional, with a great deal of emphasis on elaborate ritual and a huge amount of history behind it? Definitely a more appealing way to do magic. Sorry, I'm just not a good enough engineer to want to be a Son of Ether.
