Sigh

Oh, InDesign, you are a cruel mistress. Luring me in with promises of wonders, and then leaving me hella confused.

Also, damn you photos, for not being high enough res!

The part I found VERY hard to figure out, coming from Quark/PageMaker, was the frame vs. content distinction (particularly for images) and the two different modes of interacting with them. Once I got used to that and understood how it behaved, my learning curve flattened out a lot.

If you have questions, maybe I can help? As previously noted, I use InDesign all day long. :-D

I've got three layers right now - a background layer, an image layer, and a text layer. Every time I try to create a new text box with the bottom background layer turned on, the text cursor doesn't turn curved when it's over the new text box - the cursor and any attempts at text just appear at the upper left hand corner. I don't know why. But if I make the background invisible, suddenly I can type in the new text box without any problem.

Also, having a lot of confusion in changing colors of things and the proper way to go about it. I keep managing to muck my way into the color I'm looking for, but only after far more effort than must be necessary.

Unfortunately, I doubt you can magically make my photo big enough to use as a background without getting all blurry.
