Like clockwork
Spent more time on my new favorite hobby this morning. Replaced all the bushings and then put the time and strike trains together. (In English - fixed the holes so the axles of the various gears turn smoothly, and then put together the gear trains - the sets of gears that interlock with each other - for the mechanisms that turn the clock hands and strike the bell on the hour.) Actually, I managed to get most of the trains together all by myself by looking at them very closely and figuring out what went where. I'm slightly ridiculously proud of this, of course. Anyway, all the gears run nice and smoothly now. I still have to get the rack and pinions to work and put together everything with the weights and the pendulum (assuming that they come in soon - we ordered them last week). And do the calculations and simulations and research and writing parts, of course. But fiddling with the mechanism is the fun part.

How the hell are ya?
Oooh. Add me as an LJ friend.
This is Melody, btw. That basketball game was ridiculous. I was watching a Pride and Prejudice movie for class but I heard about it and it's all anyone here is talking about.
Life is going well. I just applied to 57 summer jobs. Getting some offers. Life is good.
Melody!
