Last night, I dreamt that Harry Potter was visiting his father in an old farmhouse. His dad was regretful that he'd been so absent throughout Harry's childhood. Harry wanted to stay, but it was very important that he get back to the castle in the clouds before the battle broke out. So Harry's dad and Gandalf each planted the pineapple trees that they had saved, which quickly grew to touch the sky. Unfortunately, this started a tidal wave. Meanwhile, a fashion store manager in the town at the base of the hill the farmhouse was on was wondering if the new clerk was actually incompetent or possibly a secret agent, but the photos displayed in the photography studio next door were quite nice. At this point, the town was completely submerged by the tidal wave. Draco was treading water in the ocean where the town used to be, and saw a World War II helmet slowly falling to the bottom, and realized it was just the thing to make the other kids at school think he was cool. He dove down to get it, but a hermit crab was already inside and snapped at his hand, making him drop it. The crab smugly rode the helmet down to the bottom, where he turned into a sea urchin and then was eaten by a much larger fish.

Did someone put LSD in my ice cream last night and forget to tell me?

How do you get that much detail in your dreams?

I'm leaving out a lot of the detail. This is all incredibly vivid - I could paint the farmhouse, map out how the photographer's studio was laid out, remember snatches of Harry's conversation with his father. And this was only the last dream of the night - there were at least two more that have faded at this point.

Really vivid imagination? Or maybe just I remember my dreams in a lot more detail than many people do. Maybe everyone has dreams this complicated, I'm just better at holding on to them once I'm awake. Dunno.

I'm lucky if I can remember one element of a dream, immediately after I wake up. Keeping it in memory long enough to verbalize and describe is next-to-impossible (I've tried once or twice, and gave up - they were pretty boring dreams, anyhow).
