Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't

My company did a company-wide long weekend this weekend, so I had Friday off. ARR and I did a budgeting and long addition project involving researching and planning a hypothetical trip to Hawaii. We did science and melted the shell off a hardboiled egg. We drew with chalk outside. The next day we did an art lesson involving sketching and watercolor painting Pokemon. (And did a bunch of playing specific games he requested.) And then after that, he refused to do anything Chuckro or I suggested for the rest of the weekend, alternating between wandering up and whining he was bored, and then before we could wrap up whatever we were doing to give him attention, wandering off. So I've been unable to do anything uninterrupted for most of the weekend, but still subjected to endless whining. Great.
