On Saturday, ARR suddenly took a turn for the worse and ended up spiking a fever of 103.4 overnight. I ended up with a low grade fever myself. We called the COVID-19 hotline for the city - there aren't enough tests, and we got triaged to "monitor for 24 hours, call 911 if it gets worse." Reassuring. Thanks. Terrible night.

Fortunately, the fevers both broke overnight. Unfortunately, by late afternoon, ARR was complaining that his eye hurt. This morning was a spectacular goo fest to go with the bloodshot eye. We did manage to get him to a pediatrician finally. He's got a viral throat infection (not strep, she checked; not Coronavirus, he didn't meet the right constellation of symptoms), and a bacterial eye infection. And he's mortally terrified of eyedrops, so getting them into him has been like a combination of wrestling an angry wolverine and trying to comfort a kid who's sobbing and begging like I'm trying to chop off a finger or something. And we have to do this every four hours he's awake, for two days.

Meanwhile, we're trying to do school and both work, all from home.

This was not my most productive day. Time is ceasing to have meaning. I had to ask three different people what day (not date, day of the week) it was. I need to get my act together tomorrow or the rest of the week will go badly. Fortunately, everyone else is in the same boat. My boss spent her day doing conference calls literally in the closet because it was the only place she could find. Like, surrounded by her husband's clothes with a bare bulb above her head.

Tomorrow will be better. We will get through this. This too shall pass.

Fuck this year.
