Christmas weekend
Dec. 10th, 2018 08:40 pmI'd asked ARR what Christmas-related activities he wanted to do this year, to make sure we scheduled them in, since time is tight this year. He wanted to decorate cookies with his friends, and go ice skating. Well, I didn't want to deal with his friends during the cookie baking marathon, but we compromised on gingerbread houses. (Well, graham cracker houses, since I wasn't going to bake multiple gingerbread house pieces, but it's the decorating that's the fun part anyway.) So over the weekend we invited two friends over and made little houses, and everyone had a grand old time.
We also went ice skating. After last year, I was kind of doubtful of getting our money's worth, but they have a rink set up nearby so we at least wouldn't have to go far. I was wrong - he did great. They didn't have the pusher penguin things, but he didn't need one. (He needed to hold my hand, but he was fine with that.) We spent probably a good hour, maybe more. He fell a whole bunch of times but it didn't faze him in the slightest (including a tumble backwards off the step onto the ice - he cried for a minute, but refused much comforting, pulled himself together, and got back on the ice). It even snowed, just enough so it didn't pile up on the ice, but it did fall on his tongue, to great delight.
Plus we got and decorated the Christmas tree. All on Saturday. It was a very Christmasy day. He was delighted.
So was I.
