Extremely exciting day
Aug. 10th, 2018 09:33 amARR is having quite the summer. We may have scheduled too many adventures, I have no idea how we'll possibly compete next summer.
So yesterday my office had a Family Fun Day at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom. ARR had a BLAST. We barely even made it out of the water park - we easily could have spent the entire day just on the wet side and never touched the dry rides at all. It helped that it was a week day and we got there early. We got to ride the Aqua Racers five times in a row, rode Jumpin Jack Splash four times, etc. We dried off at quarter to two and did two dry rides before we had to leave...
...because we then had to rush home and shower and change to go to a wedding. (It was a pity we had to leave early, but it was that or not go at all.) This was ARR's first wedding, and (with the help of some comic books) he did very well. The ceremony was in the back garden of the event space, down some stairs. It was very nice - Chuckro actually sang a song the couple had asked for, and it went smashingly well. ARR sat through the ceremony and we started back up the stairs, and he suddenly got very disappointed and upset. I asked him what was wrong, and he said we'd told him there would be food. And I suddenly realized I'd completely failed in explaining how this all worked - he thought the whole thing was over and we were going back up to go home, and had NO IDEA the reception was a thing. Oh child. Was there ever food. It was one of those massive buffets for just the cocktail hour, followed by the sit down dinners. He had so much food. Also, you know that part where the dance floor is deserted for the first chunk while people wait for the couple to arrive, and then while people are eating? It was his dance floor. He spent the first half of the reception grooving in the fancy lights and spinning until he fell over. He was delighted. He loved the food, he loved dancing, he loved the ice sculptures, he loved the bride's dress, he loved the crocheted sea creature centerpieces (which were really awesome). He was also charming and well mannered and generally adorable. Good time was had by all.
