Terrible Threes
Feb. 21st, 2016 09:10 pmI'm not sure whether it's residual illness/separation anxiety, his discovery over the weekend that whining can have results (note: this was because he was whining because he was genuinely ill and we were trying to make him comfortable, but I think he's unfortunately extrapolated to all whining), or just being three. But ARR has been a tantrum-throwing, endlessly whining, boundary pushing mess for the week. While we've been trying to deal with the carpet, the giant industrial fans, the insurance agency, Expedia, United, Air Canada, backed up work crazy, and insufficient sleep. It's been awesome. We've suddenly had to start using time outs again for the first time in months, we had to just walk out of the science center today, and there was an epic full scale wailing meltdown for a solid half hour because he didn't want to go potty. (Did I mention we've been having problems with accidents for the first time in months? That too.)
I'd been so proud of the fact we've never had a temper tantrum in public or been forced to simply leave an event because of behavior. So much for that one.
We'll manage. But I am exhausted.
