Dancing

Some coworkers wanted to go clubbing Monday night. So I went too.

I actually haven't been to a New York dance club. There were one or two attempts with friends that fizzled for one reason or another; there was a bachelorette party that hit a club that turned out to be more interested in bottle service than music. I've been to some concert venues that had some gyrating, but not one where people just go specifically to dance.

It's kind of a pity I don't know more people who are into this kind of thing--I really enjoyed it. Not as a regular thing--if nothing else, I'm generally not a fan of parties that are barely getting started at 10:30 at night. But at least I've gotten the one time. Damn, it was cold out, though. Got there early because they had free admission (and vodka) until 11, but they kept us waiting on line for 20 minutes after the alleged open.

A guy claiming to fly jumbo jets tried to pick me up. I find myself very mildly curious as to whether he was actually telling the truth or just completely full of shit, but I certainly wasn't interested enough to try to find out.

Also, apparently the ballroom and belly dancing lessons over the years actually paid off. I remember being so incredibly awkward in high school and college. Somewhere along the years, I actually became a good dancer--like, my coworkers were impressed good. Somewhere there, my body and I actually made friends and stopped fighting each other all the time. I think, sometimes, that my high school self would be impressed but also a little confused.
