We took ARR into the city today for small people adventures. Saw the model trains at the Transit Museum Annex in Grand Central. (I suspect he'd like the bigger display at the Botanical Garden, but not enough to make the train ride worth it. Maybe next year.) We went to the children's room at the main branch library. (Which actually, I'd never been to before, so it was way past due.) We watched the ice skaters in Bryant Park.

Then we hit up Ben's Delicatessen. Which is a fleishig restaurant. Ashkenazi cooking not being known for use of peanuts, this means this is a 100% ARR-safe zone. Chuckro was perhaps a little overly excited by this, but after we've had a number of bad incidents, it's really nice to not have to grill the waiter and to be able to let him choose anything he wants. It took some convincing, but he finally agreed that garlic half-sour pickles, brisket, chicken fricassee, corned beef, and savory bread pudding are all delicious. (Combo platter; we'll be eating it for two days.) Couldn't be coaxed into the stuffed cabbage, but he decimated the broccoli in the literal sense, so I'm fine with that. We already knew he liked latkes in applesauce.
