Land of pure imagination
Sep. 20th, 2015 08:23 pmWe took ARR to the Central Park Zoo today, mostly successfully. He was too cold in the penguins and fled, and was too hot in the tropic house (but I managed to figure out the problem and remove his jacket for attempt #2). And for some reason, the snow leopard freaked him out, and left him begging to go home. But he liked the monkeys and the snakes and the birds, and predictably adored feeding the sheep and goats. (He also did a lot of running and tripping today. His poor knees are a mess.)
This afternoon, he and I spent a couple hours in the park, at least an hour of which was consumed by making a road in the dust, driving cars around the road, me crossing the road without looking (as I was told to do), me being hit by a (Matchbox) car and having to fall down, ARR calling the doctor, ARR "picking" me up and taking me to the doctor, Dr. ARR prescribing my medicine and then fetching it from the pharmacy, ARR feeding me the medicine and getting me a glass of water when it tasted yucky, and ARR and I sharing some candy as a reward. (No actual candy involved.) We played out this scenario over. And over. And over.
And then we sang "We Are the Dinosaurs" and marched up and down the shadow of a tree a dozen times.
Note: none of these activities were my idea. Entirely scripted by ARR. Who has quite an imagination on him.
