It probably didn't happen
Dec. 30th, 2014 07:40 pmThere are pictures, but I don't quite have the energy to post them at the moment.
We had a really nice Christmas. Friends came over for turkey and latkes on Christmas Eve and ARR got presents. The next morning, we had vegan waffles and a visit from Santa and ARR got presents. (Including a truly amazing wooden rocking horse my parents got for him in Amish country.) That night we drove down to DC to see my parents, grandmother, and my brother and his family. The next morning, ARR got presents.
(This kid got so many presents. I keep being amazed by how many people he has in his life who love him. He was ecstatic.)
We went to the zoo, and saw real owls and elephants and a monkey and a lion, and also statues of an eagle and a panda and a bear which ARR may have liked even better than the actual animals. ARR played with his little cousin, by which we mean stole all his toys. I made an absolutely stunning Buche de Noel for the wine dinner, complete with meringue mushrooms, candied kumquats, and sugared herbs.
Unfortunately, my brother and his son were both sick. And now ARR and I are too. Of course, his fever hit 103 at 4:30 on a Sunday--we had to go to three urgent cares (and call two more) before we could find a doctor to look at him. (They had actually closed ten minutes before, but I pounded on the door and begged.) I didn't make it to the doctor until today, but apparently I'm on the edge of pneumonia. Chuckro is blessedly ok so far. ARR and I are reeling around like drunken sailors, swigging antibiotics.
