ARR had a lovely time showing off at Gymboree today. There's one activity that he particularly loves, running up an inflatable log that's propped up on a half-sphere and jumping into a barrel. When the teacher started to set up the log, he immediately found the half-sphere (which probably weighs a little less than he does) and dragged it over for her so she didn't have to get it herself. He pushed it under, fairly accurately. He knew enough of the set-up that he could predict what she was doing, figure out the next step, and then was strong enough to do it for her.

Later, we got to the "Where is Gymbo?" song. Gymbo is the stuffed mascot clown (slightly creepy, but the kids seem to like him.) They actually have three--a giant one half my height, a toddler sized one, and a hand puppet. In the "Where is Gymbo" song, the teacher has on the hand puppet behind her back and pretends not to know where he is, so the kids can point to the clown behind her back. Well, the teacher started asking where Gymbo was. ARR solved the problem. He marched over, grabbed the toddler-sized clown, dragged it back, and presented it to her. Yes, kid, you're right. You found Gymbo. Good job.

Also, he can identify which shapes are circles, squares, and triangles, at least some of the time.
