Spent the week out in LA at a conference. God, I hate having to drive everywhere. And park. Parking is even worse.

The company's covering expenses, of course, but I also found myself deeply resenting how much I was getting nickeled and dimed. The hotel wanted $20 to use the gym. The bottles of water in the convention center were $3. I spent a minimum of $60 on parking a day.

It was a weird mix of deeply stressful and relaxing. Stressful because, well, conference. A couple of the days involved brutally early mornings, every night was a coworker or client dinner, and in between was up to 12 hours of standing in heels, with a blazing smile and an ability to endlessly run through our technical specs in a convincing manner. I'd arranged a schedule so we'd all get some time off, but thanks to a combo of rescheduling and home office emergencies and one or two people being kinda dickish, the schedule fell apart and I basically never left the booth for more than 15 minutes for nearly the whole show. I don't know whether this cough came from the plane or someone at the conference, but it hasn't been helping matters.

But when I did get time off in weird intervals...there was no baby to take care of. There was a gorgeous infinity pool and hammocks. Quiet mornings and late evenings. Yesterday's schedule was weird, and the other late stayer and I ended up going to the beach after we packed up because what else where we going to do? We didn't finish in time to catch the early evening flights, and they didn't make us take the redeye. So that was nice? I'm kind of out of it, honestly.
