We took some friends back to see the apartment we were considering, and liked the place even more. (For the record--not a basement. The floor is about a foot lower than street level, but the windows on both sides get plenty of light and cross ventilation.) Anyway, it's pretty awesome in a lot of ways, including the fact that we can afford it. Specifically, we've negotiated to a price we're pretty happy with.
There are still a lot of hurdles between here and there--we're going to get a very thorough inspection done, for starters. But I'm finding myself planning new couches and what I want to plant in window boxes and how I want to decorate for Christmas. And the super awesome barbeque I hope to throw as a house-warming in a couple months. In the backyard that we would own. Nerves are wracked. This is scary. But really exciting, too.
