Day at the zoo
Oct. 14th, 2013 01:17 pmIt turns out that the Turtle Back Zoo, out in West Orange, is perfect zoo for small children. It's nice, and has a lot of different animals, but it's a small zoo of mostly small animals. (They've got some bison and sea lions and assorted farm animals, among others, but no lions/elephants/gorillas/etc.) So it's actually a manageable size for small people's attention spans. ARR had his grandparents visiting, so we spend a mostly pleasant afternoon. He looked a little overwhelmed, but was mostly quietly attentive, so I think he had a good time.
The car rides there and back, though, were significantly less pleasant. The highlight was definitely as we missed the (extremely poorly marked) entrance to the zoo, just as he projectile vomited all over himself. I ended up stuffing a bib down his sleeve to keep the wet fabric off his skin, since I had extra bibs and extra onesies but not an extra jacket. Sigh.
In other news, he can now stand independently for up to about 30 seconds before carefully lowering himself back down. (Or falling on his butt.)
