Nightmares
Dec. 14th, 2012 06:24 pmSo I'm still fighting with the pension from my previous job (don't even get me started), and I have to call them again tonight, which I'm dreading. So naturally, last night I had an anxiety dream about this. I met with the rep in person instead of on the phone, and the bulk of the dream was basically me walking her through the entire tangled history of this mess. The twist? In the dream, I was an admiral in the Imperial navy of the Star Wars extended universe, serving under Grand Admiral Thrawn. Which was why I rated the in-person meeting, I suppose. Good to know that my subconscious thinks that even people who command fleets of Star Destroyers still have to fight with bureaucracies to get their pensions rolled over.
Another nightmare involved packing up my childhood bedroom for a frantic move. I know I had discussed with my mother the number of boxes that would be necessary to hold everything--all the clothes, the books, the board games, jewelry, hair stuff, my sewing basket. And as I started packing, she informed me that all I could take was one very large black duffel bag. And I was incredibly upset--there was no way I could fit all the stuff, and then what was I supposed to do about the furniture? So I was frantically triaging through my possessions, trying to figure out what I absolutely had to keep since I only had this one suitcase. It was really upsetting.
