Had a lovely afternoon at Coney Island. Perfect surf, good hot dog, not too crowded.

Things I could have done without Friday night--the fire alarm in the church across the street went off in the middle of the night, with all the associated fire trucks and ambulances and police cars and such. As far as we could figure out, nothing actually seemed to be on fire, but it took them some time to determine this.

I finally gave up on my shorts and bought two new pair on clearance at Kmart. They're not full on maternity shorts, but they're two sizes larger than my normal size and stretchy. Hopefully they'll see me out of hot weather.

Shades of Easter Bunnies Past

The Mayo Clinic says there's nothing that can be done to prevent stretch marks--they're sub-dermal, so no cream is actually going to penetrate to where the damage is being done. But old wives' tales say that cocoa butter is supposed to help, and my skin is increasingly itchy (and weirdly peeling in a couple places), so I figured it couldn't hurt, right?

I smell overwhelmingly like a candy store. It's like being hit in the face with a giant block of white chocolate.
