I went to a storytelling cabaret thing featuring a bunch of people from The Moth at the KGB Bar with [livejournal.com profile] ivy03 this evening. If I had a mental image of what cool people do in New York, I think this was it. Incredibly funky, strange little bar on the second floor in the East Village, with a tiny little tap room, completely red paint, decorated in Marxist paraphrenalia. Incredibly hip, self-deprecating people being self-deprecating and witty, with a eccentric trivia contest and an accordian-dj. 16-year-old me would never have believed that I might actually end up in such a place without being ritually stoned (not the good kind) and evicted. The 16-year-old still in me is mighty impressed.

Tragically hip and ironic. I feel like I'm officially a New Yorker now.

In other news, the goat cheese ice cream is fabulous with walnuts and some honey drizzled over it.
