So a little down the street last night, there was a moving van and a floodlight. I don't mean some kind of small homemade floodlight, but one that was probably six feet across and mounted on a crane on a truck. We couldn't figure out what people were doing - there was a lot of stuff out on the sidewalk. Moving out? Moving in? Why did they feel a need to illuminate the entire building?
Around 11:30, this was joined by not one, not two, but seven firetrucks that raced up out of nowhere and then sat, idling with lights spinning, for ten minutes before disappearing again. We looked out the windows - nothing visibly on fire. The firemen weren't particularly rushing around once they arrived. A couple of them stood on the corner and gestured at an unremarkable building with their axes, while passersby stood staring at the building. We couldn't see anything interesting about said building (different building, down the block from the illuminated one). Then they all left.
...what the hell happened last night?
