Nano Update

Heading into the home stretch. It's pretty clear I'll make my 50,000 - I think I might even finish the damn story by the end of the month. I'm already looking forward to revising - there's so much I've learned, about writing and about my story itself, and so much I can fix. Of course, I'm not sure whether I've got the skill to fix all of it. But there are character arcs I'm only just realizing now that are happening that I have to go back and fix, and development I didn't have time to do, and world-building to flesh out, and some really awful terminology issues I need to figure out a solution to.

It's both worse and better than I'd feared or hoped. In some ways, I feel like I've built a really ridiculously detailed book outline over the course of the month, and when I've finished, I'll need to go back and actually fill in the rest of the book with all the bits that actually make you care as opposed to just what makes the plot tick along. At the same time, some of my characters are finally declaring what their personalities are (turns out, not what I originally thought at all, in some cases). One is far more vicious than I'd imagined, but it works. One is only just starting to figure out who she is.
