OSHA?

So we've been complaining about our air conditioning at work for some time, and the fact that it did not seem to be working. They repeatedly told us that either we were imagining things and it was fine, or that it was our fault because we put boxes in the wrong place. (Moved boxes. The boxes, they do nothing.) Last week, we finally made enough fuss that they actually opened the thing up. Guess what, the compressor's blown. So then they turned off the system to fix it.

We work in a windowless office in the basement. The air conditioner? It's the only thing ventilating the place.

Fortunately, the next day someone figured out that maybe leaving twenty people in an unventilated box might be a problem. They brought in fans (large, disruptive, noisy fans) and opened a door into one of the vaults that I'd never even seen opened before so we could get some oxygen. This persisted for several days while we waited for the new compressor to arrive.

Two days ago, they kicked us out early so they could weld. Yesterday, there was still no air conditioning until they finally put in the fluid around lunch. Upon turning on the system, they discovered there was a fan regulator problem, and forbid us to touch anything or shut it off until they figured out what the problem was. It started to get cold. Then it got really cold. (My poor bald boss had to go buy a hat from the gift shop.)

It's 52 degrees in here today.

The maintenance guys just walked in. "Wow, it's really cold in here." Gee, you think? "Who wanted it this cold? Did you want it this cold?" Umm, no. Thanks, dude.
