Flabbergasted
Apr. 21st, 2009 05:36 pmThe things that people think it is appropriate to put into cover letters are astonishing.
Also, useful tips? Spellcheck. And possibly sanity check. Also, remember that part about making sure that you don't leave company A's name in the letter you're sending to company B? You might also want to make sure that you change the cover letter where it talks about the specific position you're applying to in company A to the completely different and entirely unrelated position Company B is advertising for. That is, when you're applying for a job as a plumber, don't tell them how thrilled you are and how perfectly your resume illustrates your ability to be a zookeeper.
I'm not going to go into details. But my coworkers keep jumping when I burst into guffaws while going through some of these. (To be fair, many are decent and some are quite impressive. But there's always that 10% that are amazing, and not in a good way...)
