We went to see Jump! last night. This is a sort-of play, kind of like Stomp but with a minimal plot. The plot, in total and with spoilers, is a martial arts master brings home a guest to marry his granddaughter, two burglers break into their home, and the family beats the crap out of the burglers. That's pretty much it - not a whole lot of subtlety or twists. Which isn't too surprising, since it sounds like most of the cast can speak maybe ten words of English a piece. What it does have is 90 minutes of silly and very impressive live martial arts and gymnastics. And some audience participation which is fairly hilarious. It was awesome. Also, it really reinforced how much comedy you can do with no words - almost everything was movement and posture. The few words that were spoken were so badly mangled you could barely understand what they said. But you knew exactly what was going on, and even in the audience participation, there was never a sense of people not understanding each other, despite the language gap.
But yeah. Theater full of ninjas. Awesome.
