Nested dreams
Aug. 17th, 2007 08:31 amLast night, I dreamt that I was at my wedding. My parents were there, but were dressed really casually - both wearing jeans and my dad wearing his blue courderoy shirt. I was upset, but they didn't seem to be able to understand why. Then I turned around and realized they'd gone ahead and cut the cake without me and were passing it around, and I was even more mad at them.
I woke up and was telling my mom about this dream, while making a cake. She thought it was funny, but latched onto the cake thing. She started insisting the solution to my job woes would be to be a professional cake baker. I was trying to explain to her the complications of needing to go to baking school and about how something like 60% of small businesses fail in the first couple years. Meanwhile, my cake was coming out really poorly - for some reason, I'd mixed the icing and the batter together and it was turning into this tough spongy mess. She wasn't really listening to me and started chanting "cake cake cake, cake cake cakecake". Meanwhilse, in the background, there was a song on whose lyrics were entirely about cake.
Then Chuckro made me wake up.
I don't quite understand why my mind is so fixated on cake today.
