Chilling with the old dudes
Aug. 25th, 2006 12:30 pmThe class of '55 (my grandfather class) had a lovely little cocktail party for my class last night. Not a lot of people showed up, and most of my class was late, which I kind of felt bad about. I got there at 6:10, and was the only person under 70ish in the room for about half an hour. (Although it's kind of understandable - a lot of Ivy Leaguers our age are working jobs with hellish hours, and they couldn't get out of work in time for a 6pm party on the Upper East Side.) It was cool, though - it's a really interesting group of people. They've done an awful lot. I had a really nice time talking to them.
When we left, a couple of us ended up stopping by a diner for dinner (none of us had had anything to eat but the hors d'oeuvres). Caught up with an acquaintance, met a couple people who were friends of friends. Pleasant evening of network-o-rama.
