Fantasies and mysteries
May. 15th, 2005 07:28 pmI'm trying to avoid the last straggling bits of school work, and spent the weekend having fun instead.
Friday night was the 'Cats fantasy arch. The seniors get to sing the solos they've always wanted to sing. I had originally wanted to sing "I Will Be Here" with the 'Soons, but they couldn't make it. Unfortunate. Ended up doing "Calypso" and "Stay", and splitting "There is No Arizona" and "Cry Me A River" with Elena (we both wanted to sing them). We also debuted "In These Shoes?", after a year of sitting on the shelf. Went pretty well - I was reasonably pleased. They usually give the seniors gifts - I got a purple whip, so I could do the whip sound in "I Will Survive". (It's part of the percussion.) I think
chuckro was a little scared by that one.
Last night,
chuckro ran a murder mystery for a small group of Princetonians. So much fun. I ended up playing Sister Susan, the saintly nun with the wickedly dirty mind, who smacked people's hands with a ruler for talking about naughty things, but whose room turned out to contain handcuffs, feathers, cucumbers, and the like. We had cross-dressers, blackmailers, a "splendid" butler who hated the cook, and all kinds of other scandalous stuff. Some best quotes:
Susan: I've known him for years.
Count/ess: What, continuously?
Susan: Not in the Biblical sense!
Starlet: I'm in my twenties! ...Well...maybe thirties...well...almost...(very quietly) I'm 47.
Butler: Well, of course I had to wait to kill the cook until after she finished baking! I can't bake pastries!
After having smacked hands with a ruler throughout the game, upon others discovering her little treasure trove, Susan: (smacking her head with ruler) Bad Susan! Bad Susan!
It was amusing.
