We had a birthday party for my grandmother today. A really rather big one. All of the family, pretty much, and quite a lot of her friends (I knew maybe a third of the people there, and it was at my house). They hired the Omelette King to come cook for us. Basically, this chef showed up at our house with three gas stoves, a table cloth, a load of eggs and random stuff you put in omelettes, and made omelettes for us all (like 40 people). They were really tasty. However, as a result, I now have a bizarre version of the Pirates of Penzance song "The Pirate King" running through my head. "For he is the Omelette King, he is, hurrah for the Omelette King..."
Anyway, it was a pretty nifty idea for a large birthday party.
In an unrelated topic, we did tango and jive today in dance class. Tango is so incredibly cool. A little weird, but seriously cool. It's a walking dance - the girls do a lot of slinking backwards. But we also did that neat little head snap where you start going backwards and end up cheek to cheek, both going forwards with your arms out in front of you, like you see in the movies. It's really, really cool. (Not quite as complicated as it looks, too.) Jive, it turns out, is remarkably similar to East Coast Swing, which I can already do somewhat. It's a lot of fun, but really fast, and an excellent replacement for any cardio workout you'd care to choose. A lot more interesting than step aerobics, for certain. Although I was a little dizzy by the end - the girls do an awful lot of quick turns. So much fun!
