Refers to a particular tone of voice that I learned from my mother, which, when properly applied, can get anyone to do anything. It's her teacher-voice, and it carries an undertone of absolute, unarguable truth. There is no implied threat, because there is no need for one: This tone of voice says that you will do what I say.
I use it sparingly, lest I come to rely on it and become and really unpleasant person to be around.
