Safety scissors, anyone?

I've been putting together marketing binders, which requires a surprising amount of hole-punching and cutting out stuff and taping things together. And I realize how very much this feels like arts and crafts projects from elementary school.

And my first thought is, "I should be thinking, "Man, I have an Ivy-League education, and they're making me do arts & crafts?" "

And my second thought is, "I get to do arts & crafts!"

I love my job.

However, now that arts and crafts time is over, apparently it's time for milk and cookies. Or at least, my body thinks it is. All it really wants to do is go home and eat the cookies I made last night. (Which is better than Monday, I suppose, when all I really wanted to do was take a nap. It turns out that it's frowned upon in the business world to bring your blankie to work.)

Dude! I was putting together binders today too, and thinking the same thing! :-P

On one hand, I've been trained to program computers, build robots, do multivariable calculus, analyze sophisticated financial instruments, project complex budgets, not to mention deconstructing poetry, building websites, or writing marketing copy. And I'm cutting things out with scissors.

On the other - there's just something really satisfying about putting these things together, and watching the shelf fill up with pretty, colorful, completed binders.

Frowned upon to bring your blankie to work? That's awful! I haven't ever had a workplace where I haven't had a blankie nearby.

Yeah really! I had a great nap this afternoon with my down blankie and Mogu pillow.

My very first work assignment post-college involved colored pencils and a map.
