Pathetic

Teeth seem to be recovering, but my jaw's so stiff from being clamped open for an hour that I'm now having trouble opening my mouth wide enough to get food in. I had to nibble on my banana because I couldn't bite it. I'm eating one piece of pasta at a time. Sigh.

Ow. Sympathies. I get that bit of fun when I go back to Cleveland for my sister's graduation--a previous dentist must have done a bad job on a filling, because it needs to be replaced.

One of mine had to be replaced as well - apparently I'm not flossing enough.

You floss three or four times a day! WTF, mate?

I'd only really been hitting one spot where food kept getting stuck. I wasn't doing the rest reliably. And apparently I should have had him fix the place where the food was getting stuck instead of letting it get stuck there.

What sort of work did you have done?

(As a slightly-related story... I once got hit in the mouth with a softball and the left side of my mouth swelled up a LOT. I spent the next few days drinking through a straw in the right side of my mouth and cutting my food into itty bitty pieces to fit them between my top and bottom teeth. I'm sure I looked super-cool.)

Oh, it was just some fillings. Nothing major. It's just that the muscles are still really stiff from having my mouth pried open for so long. I'm sure I'll be fine in a couple days, but right now I'm whining.

Hope you feel better soon. And "ooh ahh".

It occured to me.

At least your mouth isn't stuck open. :)

Little pasta stars in chicken broth is the dentist's patient's friend.

OMG I *loved* Chicken 'n' Stars.

Pretty sure I haven't had them since I was eight.

Chuckro does, too. I never really cared for them, honestly. I like the noodles better, and I grew out of those pretty fast, too.

[identity profile] lithoglyphic.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I've grown out of both, too. Tomato soup is now my ultimate comfort food.

[identity profile] jethrien.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I still think chicken soup is a perfect comfort food. But I want visible herbs in mine, and big meaty chunks of chicken, and lots of real vegetables. And big noodles, or rice, or matzoh balls. Cloudy yellow broth with tiny noodles and approximately a quarter of a cubic inch of chicken floating somewhere near the bottom doesn't cut it anymore.

Ouch. Sympathies. I have a spot of dental work coming up in a few weeks myself.

Good luck!
