Is it possible to throw out your back while sleeping? I woke up in the middle of the night when the back muscles under my shoulder suddenly seized up. I had to wake up Chuckro and get him to massage them out a bit because I was having trouble breathing, it hurt so much. Every time I expanded my ribcage, I got a fresh wave of stabbity goodness.

It's still harpstring-tight and painful. I'm moving really gingerly. What the heck, back?

Yes. My grandfather has done that before.

I suggest heating pads, advil, and not carrying anything.

I can rub it some more when you get home; we can also try the Iceyhot stuff, if you'd like--that seemed to be a big help the last time my back was really cranky.

The fine folks at ThermaCare have gotten me through a lot of pain over the years. They basically make wearable heating pads that last for about 8 hours.
