I have arrived

I got my first Christmas-gift-from-a-vendor yesterday. I am the proud owner of a gorgeous year planner that's really too big for me or Chuckro to use. Still, someone thinks I'm worth sucking up to. Go me!

I got my flu shot today. Now I'm feeling vaguely feverish. Psychosomatic or caused by live vaccine? (It seems early for my body to be reacting, but I don't know that much about the extreme details of how vaccines react in your body.)

ooh! You have minions?

No, no, vendor, not minions. The travel agency we use want to suck up to me. I don't have minions of my own - I am a minion.

Wow :) Go Jethrien!

And must mention that it would never have occurred to me that people you do business with would send you presents. The things you learn about the world ...

At most places I've worked or places people I know have worked, it would be kind of tacky and weird to give your boss presents unless you were good friends outside of work. (Or maybe a group present for wedding/baby showers or a going away party.)

But giving your clients presents? Oh, that's big business. We're about to start the food deluge. Last year, there were massive cheese/sausage/cookie/snack baskets. At my old job, we got a tower of Hershey's. Most people who receive them put them somewhere public in the office and everyone shares.

Hah :) Govies must miss out on so much because of ethics rules.

And so do their contractors.

Actually what's happening is that the flu vaccine is faking your body into thinking that it is under attack by the flu, so what you're feeling is the inflammation response as you marshal your defenses. By the time it realizes that no infection is occurring, you will have begun developing antibodies that will recognize, attack, and destroy any real invading viruses.

I got my flu shot last month, the symptoms went away in three days. The 2007-2008 Trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine reaches full effectiveness about two weeks after you get the shot.

Hee, my dad is in sales, so he gets Christmas gifts from his clients all the time. Sometimes they're fun, useful, and tasty. Last year, though, he got the combination USB hub and mug warmer!
