Poor hand

I have a lovely pear and raspberry pie. It is a thing of beauty.

Unfortunately, the cost of this loveliness is apparently the burn on the back of my hand. It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be - looks like it isn't going to blister. And it hurt a lot more last night than it does this morning.

Still. Poor hand. All burnedidy.

Silly girl. Didn't your momma ever tell you to put on a hot mitt before playing in the oven? Do I need to get your brother to make you a "fish stick" of your very own (you can't have mine - it's an heirloom)?

Actually, I burned it on a pot on the stove while I was precooking the pears. Reached for the backburner and brushed the back of my hand against the pot on the front burner. Yeouch.

But the precooking seems to have worked - this time I didn't end up with my filling shrinking away from the sides of the pie.

Just don't ever use a wet hot-mitt. I learned that the hard way.
