Whew!

Y'know, you'd think that having an hour cushion would be enough for a two and a half hour drive. You'd think.

We very nearly were horribly late to a wedding (congrats to tigermelp and pmiller581!) this weekend. Three accidents, construction, a slowdown we never determined the cause of, and a freak rainstorm. We got there about fifteen minutes late - fortunately for us, the ceremony started about 20 minutes late, and so we were able to duck into the last pew a few minutes before the bridesmaids started walking down the aisle.

But after that, things went smoothly, as far as I could tell. It was a really nice wedding. Charming little church, gorgeous flowers, and of course (for those of you who know her), the bride was lovely.

And the band crashed the reception. (By which I mean, the maid of honor and the best man worked their tails off, along with the band officers, to get them all the way from Princeton to Connecticut.) Which was awesome, as to be expected. And then, since they were there, they crashed the bar mitzvah (bat mitzvah? Never found out whether it was a boy or a girl) next door. (For the record - the kid apparently begged them to.)

Of course, this being a band wedding, we had I think five or six alumni conductors there, including the bride.

Much fun. I'm not sure where they're going on their honeymoon, but I hope they have a wonderful time. They're a couple who truly belong together.
