Cleanup
For the last two weeks, I've been pulling 11-13 days most days. Most of the stuff that was requiring this has been taken care of, but now I'm trying to catch up on all the stuff I didn't do while I was doing fiscal close stuff. Yeesh.
Quiet weekend of recuperating.
Fourth of July, by the way, was quite awesome. It was the first time I've been in Boston for the Fourth since I was a very little girl (and insisted that I wanted to wear my wool dark blue-with-red-and-white-trim sweater, because Boston was north of us and everyone knew that it was cold up north). We watched fireworks from the Cambridge side, after consuming a seriously impressive picnic with friends and friends-of-friends. Really amazing sushi on Saturday, since
katertoticus is friends with the sushi chef. Basically, we just sat down and told him a little about what we like and don't like, and then made us stuff.
katertoticus says she's never actually looked at a menu. The bill read "Sushi - [price]" - he didn't even bother breaking it out. (It was a totally fair price, given the quantity and quality of sushi.)
Sunday, we did Chowderfest. Something like seven or eight different restaurants were competing, plus the USS Bataan, the aircraft carrier in port at the time. We all had to agree that Christopher's of Maynerd's was above and beyond the best. (Many were tasty but not all that special, and I thought two were pretty much inedible. One tasted like I'd gotten my very own cube of bullion, it was so salty, and the other actually put coconut in, which didn't work at all.) However, I thought the Navy guys' was third best and really wanted them to place, so as a group we ended up casting three votes for Christopher's and one for the Navy. (Christopher's won; two and three were both places I'd liked, but neither the Navy nor the place I liked second best. Ah well.)
